Starting Over is Hard
We've all been in a spot where we look back on what we're doing and wonder how we've been able to spin our wheels so hard and for so long. Many of us do this at New Year's when we have a calendar year of regrets to dust off and summarily dismiss as passed. I'm actually going to get a jump on that by doing it during the week before Thanksgiving here in New England. Rather than regrets i will change it up and do a full reboot of this blog by reflecting on what I am thankful for.
Firstly, I am thankful for you, my dearest readers, who have stuck with me through a couple different aborted starts on this blogging thing. I had started with film related blogs and then something about life from my somewhat cynical middle aged perspective and some of you actually read them. For that I am grateful.
Next, I am thankful for having an idea that has been rolling around in my head for nearly twenty years and has not given up on getting my attention. Now, I may finally take the plunge in getting it on paper. You'll read more on that in future posts as I share my process and struggles of writing a soft science thriller with controversial religious overtones. Think DaVinci Code meets James Bond meets Prophecy.
Lastly, on this gratitude parade and certainly not least are all the wonderful people that come and go in my life. My friends, family, business associates, acquaintances and even the people I meet in the check out line. I am a firm believer that everyone that we meet in our lives, no m atter how casually, has a lesson to teach us. However, the lesson may not be obvious. As in, they may not be a "teacher" or "coach" by title or occupation and the lesson maybe subtle or an example of "what not to do". Either way I am grateful for all of you that have touched the spiderweb of my life even a little bit and shared some tidbit of wisdom.
So that is my soft reboot for the Brand New Blog; Musing On the Muse. As the name of suggests, I will mostly be writing about the creativity in its many forms; crafting tales, stories, characters, games and experiences. I am now half a century old and although my paternal grandmother did exceed the century mark before she passed, I have no delusions that I will be quite that fortunate. So there is no time like the present to get off the porch and get busy living.
Welcome aboard, for what I hope will be an entertaining and occasionally illuminating ride.
